Lying in the hospital bed, unable to see what this group of 'eye doctors' are actually looking at, I concentrate on my other senses, my hearing, touch, smell and taste. Taste doesn't exactly tell me much at present, the disinfectant tang of hospitals masks pretty much everything else. Hearing, that's only any use when there's someone nearby to listen to. Touch, same as hearing, pretty much, save for feeling the dressings all over me, the sheets and blankets, and that damned needle in my arm, and fuck only knows what their pushing into me through there. Smell, well, other than that distinctive hospital smell, I detect flowers, stale tobacco smoke (someone around here smokes), and a musky, spicy cologne that I find …. Unappealing.

Listening closely, I hear them say something about unexpected developments, and unusual side effects. What are they talking about. They take the bandages off my head, and look into my eyes, but … this is odd … I .. I don't understand what's happened. I can see, but… not normally, it's… it's almost like one of the wildlife documentaries, where you're watching through a starlight camera. It's a kind of dusky grey purple view of the world, not quite sharply focused, but not blurred. They gasp when they see my eyes, and a word … I'm not sure why, but the word … leonine came out. Leonine – that means lion like. But my eyes are blue, not brownish gold. What're they on about now? I'm … I'm getting sleepy again, I … I can't stay awake.

I'm back in the cold, dank room again, bound and shackled. That accented voice is talking again, trial gone wrong. But … WHAT trial, I've not signed up to any trial, so now what's on? Again, I feel a gentle touch on my …wings. I still can't get my head around how they've grown on me. But I see better now, it's almost as though I have night vision goggles on now. Scanning the room, with this improved vision, I see a way out, if I were only free to run to it. Looking down at my feet, I see what seems to be a weak point in the tether, and my shackles aren't as tough as they at first seemed. Shrugging my shoulders, I find my arms unbound, and dropping to the floor, I free myself of my bonds and tether, before racing toward the door, and freedom.
Part three of 'Blind Panic'.

It's getting weirder!

weird, in a very good way
seems to be developing animal characteristics
seeing with cat (?) eyes would be different than human vision
